Plan Toys
PlanToys is a toy manufacturer in Trang in the south of Thailand founded in 1981 by Vitool Viraponsavan. It makes its toys from rubberwood, a sustainable by-product of the latex industry's harvesting of trees used for natural rubber production once their productivity declines.
Thailand has the largest rubber tree plantation in the world and once these trees stop producing quality rubber (after about 25 years), farmers will burn the entire plantation to plant new rubber trees. The pollution caused by the burning of these trees was terrible. Vitool wanted to help the children in their development by giving them wooden toys – toys made from these rubber trees. PlanToys never cuts down a tree from a forest, but only use recycled wood from plantations.
With a strong mission to create a sustainable world, PlanToys intentionally considers every single step of production in order to minimize environmental impact. Every single toy is made in its own factory so there is no third-party supplier. The PlanToys factory is in the middle of the plantations to avoid long distances which allow the company to keep its ecological footprint as low as possible. Seventy-three percent of their resources are within 30 kilometers of the factory.
Nearly four decades of mindful business practices and close attention to product design makes PlanToys an unrivaled manufacturer of developmental toys. It is their hope that your little one not only grows in their ability to imagine and create with our wooden toys but that they also grow closer to nature, better understand the importance of a green lifestyle and successfully develop along the way.
